Food chain relationships: the category captain concept

Abstract : In an increasing globalized and constrained economic environment, supply chain firms have developped collaborative tools with distributors. The main goals of these partnerships are to decrease cost and to increase efficiency. In that way, concepts of Efficient Consumer Response and Supply ChainManagement have been widely implemented by large retailers. In this paper, we focus on category captain development and its impact on supply and price policies. A mathematical model is proposed to illustrate our purposes.
